I love Memorial Day! Not only because Mike doesn't have to work, but I love seeing the cemeteries so colorful and vibrant and filled with people. They really should look like that all year long. We stayed in Boise for the weekend. While I missed going to the cemetery to see my mom and grandpa's graves and seeing family; we had a great weekend.
First stop was Eagle Park. Not sure what the parks actual name is. They had 600 flags dedicated to the men and women from Eagle who are serving our country. It really was breath taking seeing so many flags. We also made a history lesson of it and told the kids about the meaning of the stars and stripes. Maddy loved running through all the flags.
Maddy & Lexi were wearing patriotic clothes so of course we had to snap a picture. Jack wasn't too happy with me, he wanted to play on at the park so he wouldn't come in the picture.
Finally we made it to the park. Maddy loves the small monkey bars and by the end of the day she got to the other side all by herself!
Jack made it 1/2 way too.
After heading to Iceberg for hamburgers, hot dogs and a strawberry ice cream shake we went to Ann Morrison Park and rode the paddle boats.
I was more nervous that Jack would try to go swimming and apparently Mike was too--he had a hand on his life jacket the whole 30 minute ride! But Jack didn't move, he loved watching the boat move around and the ducks and geese swimming. They were also nice birds. We have some baby goslings by our house and Jack calls them the "mean ducks" because they hiss at you but still eat the bread you bring!
All in all we had a wonderful, sunny weekend. Happy Memorial Day!
