Boo!

What a week. Here's what we have been up to.

First up we had a pumpkin carving night with Carmel apples and THE BEST sloppy joes I have ever had. Um, ya sloppy joes aren't something you rave about. BUT these are good. Have you checked out this website? ourbestbites.com If not go-I have done several of the recipes and no complaints about any. Try sloppy joes for dinner!

Enough about dinner, do you have one of those people in your life you just wanna be like. My s.i.l. Stephanie is that one for me. She always has the greatest games, the cutest kids, the best ideas and the coolest decorations. We played "Don't eat Frank" and the kids (with the exception of Maddy) loved it! We love living close to cousins and sil's! And Stephanie slaved the whole day first making sloppy joes and then these heavenly carmel apples. Ya, we haven't even gotten to the pumpkin carving yet. They were delish!

Finally it's time to carve the pumpkins. Lexi didn't want anything to do with it. I thought she might have fun digging out the guts but she wouldn't even touch it. Karsyn loved her pumpkin!

Mike was watching the game so I guess was inspired to carve his pumpkin a different way,

Bill helped Kamryn carve her kitty,

Jack drew his face and Maddy did the whole thing all by herself. By the end she said her hand hurt.

Stephanie and I got creative (see once again her she is being all Martha Stewart) and we drilled ours! Polka Dots!! They all turned out so cute.

TaDa the finished projects!

Phew, check that one of the list. On to the next agenda.

First party of the week was Jack's preschool party on Thursday. I volunteered to help. Wow, do I admire a preschool teacher, I guess any teacher in general. She had 12 kids chanting "teacher, teacher" for 2 hours. What a patient person she is. We just love Ms Linda's preschool and highly recommend her. Here is Jack dressed as a fireman.

Friday we all dressed up to go to the Carecenter to Trick or Treat. We went to the school and watched the parade and I forgot the camera. She had a great class party also and came home with more candy and treats!

Maddy is a black bird

And all three!
I love this picture, shows the height levels of the kids.

Lexi 19.5 months, Jack 4, Maddy 6

And Miss Lexi is Rapunzel.

Thanks for the costumes Emma!

Friday night we ventured to Lehi to celebrate Halloween a day early with Mike's parents at their wards Trunk or Treat. I love these. We had them in Boise and maybe next year our ward will do one. We ate yummy soup, the kids played games inside and then we all headed outside to go car to car and get candy. By the end of the night Lexi had it down. She already knows the word "candy or caady" as she calls it but she was saying Trick or Treat too "Tree Tree."

Here we are. Wenda, Bird, Fireman, Chicken and Waldo

Can you say Christmas Card picture or what:)

I wanted Lexi to be warm at the trunk or treat so she changed costumes. The chicken costume is a hand me down but so warm--she was actually sweating in it. Here is Lexi charming us as usual.

And officially today is Halloween. So before I completely got out of the Halloween spirit, I posted pictures of the Halloween Costumes. It seems all we have done this week is gather and eat candy-myself included. School parties and Trunk or Treats~by the time Halloween rolled around (actually it's today) I was out of the mood. Saturday night it was raining and hailing and I didn't feel like dragging the kids around the block. But when the doorbell rang and other's were out trick or treating, I had no excuse. Quickly the costumes were put on~we dressed up with makeup and hair dye on Friday so Saturday was simple costumes warm mostly! After doing our little neighborhood we headed to the Quinns and ate chili and cornbread. October has been a long month. We did so much, had so much fun and I have over 150 pictures to prove all of our busyness. Down go the jack-o-lanterns and up go the pilgrims and turkeys. So excited for the holidays that are quickly approaching.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween Preview

I have never really been a fan of dressing up for Halloween except when I was young and would dress up like a clown--every year! My mom made these cute clown costumes. I can almost see little Lexi in this picture of me.

And another year, here is Chad, Kinzee, Brody

As the kids got older I tried to get them to want to dress up like a clown. In 2007, Maddy did. She is 3 here. Aren't here pucker lips cute. She use to do this whenever she'd put lipstick on and this was the last night she did it. Here is Maddie and Maddy heading out to go trick or treating.

That same year our ward had a Halloween party and Mike was a good sport and dressed up as a clown with Maddy. We also dressed up as Danny and Olivia Newton John from Grease, that's why I'm in a poodle skirt and blond wig. And Jack was Raggedy Andy. Mike was this when he was Jack's age, although I don't have a picture of that. One day I'll get Mike's pictures and get them in an album, these days I'm lucky to post them on the blog.

Back home in Boise, we got invited to several Halloween parties and dressing up became more fun. I am not a fan of paint on the face and nothing to risky. We had our own Halloween fiesta with new neighbors. Here are some of the guests and costumes.

Waldo and Wenda aka Mike & Kinzee

Dr. Shosted and eye exam gone wrong Camille aka Kevin & Camille

(*note he is an eye doctor and this is just a costume:)

Bambi and Hunter aka Ali and Drew

Obamacare & patient aka Chad and Ann

Snow white & paddle boy aka Matt and Cami

Bridezilla & Frankenstein aka Clairesse and Brandon

Witch & Batman aka Jen and Jake
(doesn't she look great she is 8 months pregnant)

All the costumes were great but this was our winner. I cried when she walked in the door. If only we had taken a picture of her socks and shoes and her french braid. Did you know the higher the bangs the more spiritual polygamist wives are? Good to know, I guess.

Warren Jeffs and wife #1 aka Ben & Kami

And of course a picture of the yummy food.

Eye balls

These were very interesting. A pretzel was in the middle, I honestly didn't try one but heard it was quite the experience to eat!

Deviled eyes

Pumpkin roll that was on the go

What a blast it was getting to know our neighbors better. We played some games that made me cry also from laughing so hard and some other games that only "couples" can play. Yikes! Those would have been interesting pictures. My dad was a gem and watched the 3 goblins all night. He had as much fun as we did. This is definitely something we want to do again. Gotta start thinking of next years costumes!!

More Cornbellies

Another weekend spent at Cornbellies at Thanksgiving Point. We have gotten our money's worth with the season pass. We especially love going to get to see cousins! Here were some of our favorites this weekend.

We love the Pig races. What cute little pigs they are, why do they grow up to be fat and stinky but taste sooo good!

One can't get enough of the duck races.

Climbing the giant spider web.

Light at the end of the tunnel?

Bike races

This giant slide is so fun even for mommy!

Lexi loves going all by herself too.

Cousin Karsyn loved the slide too.

Lexi found a little slide just her size.

And the cow ride is a must have. This week Lexi and Jack rode together.

Bill & Karsyn

Kamryn loved the ride once it started.

The jumping pillow is a riot! Wow can you get some serious bounce. There are 3: One for the little ones, one for kids and one for anyone. Mike and I enjoyed bouncing on the pillows as much as the kids did.

These pictures were actually taken last weekend. We skipped a weekend because of rain and a Halloween party~pictures to follow!

ThRiLleR!!

My friend Camille invited us to a Thriller evening. We were all given Halloween themed assisghments and the creations were delicious and very creative. Highly creative as my dad would say! The guys stayed behind and cleaned up dinner and played video games. After dinner the girls headed to Kingsbury Hall. A first for me, beautiful theatre, seeing Thriller was almost an oxymoron in the theatre that once was the place to watch shows before the Capital Theatre came to SLC.

Dinner was up first. Here are some of the yummy things we ate!

Aren't these so cute.

Bread bowls!

We ate yummy taco soup, and Creamy chicken noodle (Ann post your recipe:).

Clariesse made this yummy sherbet drink and the cauldron was so fun!

7 layer bean dip

Fingers didn't quite turn out like I had hoped but were still yummy

Ann & I

Heavenly carmel apples. I think (actually I know) I tried one of every kind!

GGGuGGGGuac dip with cut out tortillas

And here is the group that went to the show. We took up a whole row.

Rachel, Makinzee, Kami, Ann, Kristie, Michelle, Janae, Savanna
Caroline, Sarah & Camille

Caroline, Camillie, Makinzee, Kristie, Michelle

Ann, Kami, Rachel

The show was very entertaining and funny and a lot of fun. I loved the River of Blood, Thriller and Lorena Bobbit was hillarious. My friend Ann says we are girls from the "hood" and that we are! Show runs til the 30th. Highly recommend it!
