Jog a Thon

Our school holds one fundraiser at the beginning of the school year, to earn money for PTA programs. field trips, assemblies, Teacher Appreciation stuff, etc. It fell on a Friday this year, so I wasn't working and was able to come help and watch the kids run. I arrived just after the 5th graders had started, when I saw jack he was already sweaty and lots of tally marks. After the kids run 1/8 of a mile, they get a tally mark. They keep track of the Fastest Falcon along with who runs the most laps. Jack said the course was longer this year, last year he got 19 laps this year only 12. Here he is with some of his 5th grade buddies. I really am having a hard time, writing 5th. No way is he that old!
Next up was Lexi's 2nd grade classes. Didn't get any pictures running because I was busy tallying points on shirts but snapped a couple after. Lexi is cooking off with a snow cone. She ran 11 laps. Yesterday, she was trying to convince me to donate $100, I told her if she ran 100 laps I would. I pay $1 per lap. The goal is to raise $25/kid, I almost wish it were a family goal maybe it would be less. Nevertheless, I will get out my checkbook and write a $75 check to the school. At dinner last night, the kids did talk Grandma into sponsoring them also. Last year, they went around the neighborhood asking for donations but I really hate asking people for money so I said I'd just pay! Lexi is pleased to have $11 to her name.
Mrs. Taylor did have a class picture taken, the Japanese Man has been learning English and helping Mrs. T for the past 2 weeks. Lexi has really enjoyed learning about Japan and getting to know him. He is the sweetest guy, all of the classes have had the Japanese assistants helping them. They'll all be sad come Monday when they leave, teachers and students! They have taught the children many things and even gave gifts. Very generous.

And 6th graders. After the race, found the girls in the shade enjoying their snow cones. So fun to have all these friends on the same track, almost all are on A. We have been very blessed to have great friends in the neighborhood and then at schools and all will go to Middle School with them next year, High School well that's another story! BUT at least that's years away, although it'll be here before we know it. Fun for me to see lots of friends aka Mom's at the Jog a thon also, I just love Elk Meadows!!

And a picture to add of Jack and his child labor. All summer, I've been hinting at earning money if he mows the lawn, last week he finally did it and loved it. He earned a bag for his new headphones that he bought and this week money. Not a bad thing, since yard work is Mike's least favorite past time. Glad I got one that loves to work, especially if it is for money!

Heat is on

The end of June was HOT! Like a 100' hot. Kids had the last hurrahs at school. Lexi participated in her schools talent show. She sang the theme song from Zootopia and then at the very end all the kids danced the twist. Peyton has sure grown this year! These girls are best of friends! Not too shabby having a best friend in class as your cousin. So grateful we have been able to be on the same track and class the last two years. Hoping Peyton and Lexi will do well apart next year, we are both on A track but got different teachers.
I pulled out the pool, blew it up only to find out that it had LOTS of whole's in it. So Lexi and I ran to the store and bought a new pool, blew it up and filled it with freezing cold water and the kids swam! Crazy kids is all I can say, only as a child do you do this! BUT smiles all around.

Maddy and Gracie both wearing polka dots!
End of June we also had Regional games for All Stars. Lucky us, got 3 games at 1 pm on 3 different 100' days. One inning when Jack was done pitching, he was bright red! We were all pushing fluids into the kids to keep from overheating. They had a great time in the tournament and ended up placing 3rd--so we shall say! One game, was 3 hours and 15 minutes with a score of 24 to 18. Longest game ever! Regulations are that they have to play 6 innings. Most games were just over 2 hours, thank goodness. I had to check kids out of school to go cheer on Jack. No one complained!
The games are pretty official and even sing the Star Spangled Banner before opening pitch, I believe the flag is behind the fence pole.
10U All Star team!
And then we finished up with our Fantastic Falcon awards, field day, water day, movie day and softball day for our last week of school. Lexi was so excited to receive her award. Her report card was very well also! She loves school and is getting very good at reading. She is on reading level J.
Loved her teacher, Jack also had her, I tried to convince her to stick around 3 more years for Lilly but she insisted next year is her last and she is ready to retire!

4th grade was next. Jack is forth from the right, I had a hard time finding him. He had the biggest class in the entire school. Lots of 4th graders and lots of boys this age!
Maddy only had 6 people in her class receive the award and I wasn't quick enough to snap a picture with her class. I also didn't think to take a picture with the kids teachers so here is what I got. A picture of my Fantastic Falcons!
Later that night, I was invited to go shooting for a work party. When you work with a bunch of guys, you go shooting for parties! I will admit I had lots of nerves, shooting for the first time, holding a loaded gun and this was recent after the Orlando shootings in the night club. Guns are just scary but I did pretty well. Jina, Tifani and I got a quick crash course and then were off to the races!

It was loud! It was hot down under but it was kindof fun. I hope to do it again sometime, we do not own any guns in our house and coming from a hunting family it's kindof ironic I have never been shooting before! First time for everything.

School was officially out on July 1st. That night we went to the Oakley Rodeo and enjoyed the Eyre family reunion. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the weekend.
Wasn't sure how Lilly would do but she LOVED it! She loved watching the horses, the bull rides, the cows, and Lexi esp loved watching the girls race. She wants to do that when she grows up! She was the only one I could get to wear a hat too, Lilly did wear boots including Lexi.
Tif bought about 70 tickets for us all to watch the rodeo. As always we loved the rodeo clown. He also did stunt jumping and used a motorcycle to jump over a dodge truck and trailer--and the previous week he did it and crashed. He did tonights show with several broken ribs! He was funny and the rodeo was a blast!

Sunset was gorgeous! Love this valley!

Camping was available to those who wanted to. We opted at staying at the Ranch (aka my Dad's) in beds. My kind of camping. However, camping was very de ja vue like, we camped where I went to girls camp 22+ years ago. It is same layout, some trees have died, a new sign added, new hand wash stations but everything brought back memories! Fun to show my kids that this is where I camped as a girl, and the saddest part about that is that this is literally less then 2 miles from my Dad's house.

This is where Becky Pulsipher threw my Egg baby over the shower walls and she died. RIP Egg Baby.
Always a great time with Aunt Emma!
My favorite picture (except Emma's eyes are closed) of the girls using snap chat with Emma. Hilarious!
Next up was soccer! Tifani rented these giant balls and we played soccer, enjoyed treats, had lunch and enjoyed the company. We did get a cloud burst for 10 minutes of rain.  Jack was a go getter, he loved these giant balls.
Lilly was too small to participate but that didn't stop her from climbing in and out lots.
Nice combo Lexi has going on, cowboy boots while playing ball!

Mike and I even got in on a game. One was enough for both of us. It was hard work, it was almost claustrophobic inside and hard to breathe but really fun. I wish I had taken a picture of Jack, he was the same height as the balls and when he got flipped over, he didn't have enough body weight (at 67 pounds) to flip himself over, so he was doing a head stand, kicking his feet, trying to flip himself over. Several times, he had to be rescued because he couldn't flip himself right side up. He was constantly playing in the bubbles! He LOVED every minute of it. Tifani rented them and 8 was the perfect number. It was just as fun to sit and watch them play as it was to play. The grown men were by far my favorite to watch, esp cousins against cousins and brothers against brothers!

Character Matter's II

Maddy and Jack have been going to school since January 3-4 times a week at 7:30am for choir practice. Jack didn't want to participate at first and missed the first week, I told him to go to one practice and see if he liked the music and then decide. One practice and he was hooked! He was a little upset when they had to learn sign language but did a great job at learning that also.

I didn't hear any complaining about choir practice. Even when the kids had late night ball games, or didn't sleep well (which luckily is a thing of the past for Maddy), nor when we were off track and the kids still had to go to school.

Maddy tried out for one of the main characters aka narrators Cinderella. She tried to talk Jack into trying out also but he didn't want any part of that. I can't blame him, I wouldn't either. BUT Maddy loved it and wasn't nervous and so excited to perform. She was beaming and so brilliant on stage. She even was caught saying everyone's parts even if only silent to herself. She has an incredible memory.

Jack was asked to wear a colored shirt without words on it and dark pants. I think he looks so handsome. It was a touchy hair cut but in the end, Mom got the hair cut she thought was perfect.  A little long for Jack's liking and short and trendy for Mom.

We were able to borrow the perfect dress for the part also. Kris Doman made this for her daughter that is Jack's age. It was a little tight, but with curly hair we were able to unzip the back just enough.  We had such a busy day with choir performance at school in the day and the music duet along with softball and baseball games before, during and after that this is really the only photo of Maddy all dressed up I got. Oh well, hoping Julie got some others as well.

Links of video's Makinzee took, still working on uploading video's from gopro.

I didn't mean to not take video of Jack and the choir, I just didn't. Here he is for a short second do sign language, he swears after watching the video that he was signing not lip singing.

Such a great night. Kids had a blast. Grandparents came. Lexi's team won the softball game and Jack's team won the baseball game. We were hoping for a rainout!! LOL. But it all worked out.

Spring Extras

And a couple more random pictures that didn't fit in the other posts mostly because I forgot about them!

Jack received his Bear aware at Cub Scouts. 4 other boys received their Arrow of Light award. They had this lady and her hawks come and do a presentation. We thought Jack would be able to hold the bird but instead only the Arrow of Light boys were awarded that, but he did get his picture by it.
Jack is also playing on an accelerated team for Copper Hills Knucklers. They play on Saturdays, sometimes the girls do also which gives us lots of field time!
Before we went off track, the 5th graders had a  Spring Tea. Everyone came dressed up and then they learned manners while several parents decorated the room. The boys escorted the girls, pulled out their chairs, served them cake and learned how to be nice and communicate. Maddy wasn't nervous, but some of the kids were. There were tears and nerves like they were getting married!

She has had a great year at school. The kids at the school are so polite and we are blessed to not have had any problems. I'm grateful for this group of kids she hangs out with. Even the boys also.
Sometimes we play in teh rain and don't get to have rainouts. They aren't really fun for anyone involved. I figured Jack had to be out in teh rain, so I should watch also. I'm glad I dropped off the girls at home because they would have been soaked because I was and I was even under an umbrella!

We ran to Home Depot and heard hammering. Mike took Lilly to do a bird box while I looked at the veggie plants. Didn't end up buying any, maybe this week I can buy a couple. After the hammeing the box together, they got to paint the bird house and put stickers on it. Lilly was all over the sticker part!

And more crazy weather pictures. This was about 1-2 minutes of a hail storm, the ground was completely covered in white in that short period of time. We've had lots of crazy wet weather and in the last couple of weeks. I wont lie I'm ready for it to warm up and afraid we'll be in the 90's and not get those nice days in the 70's and 80's!
