Random Jack Moments

Mr Jack is often the child that gets blamed for toilet paper clogging the bathroom sink and making a swimming pool in the bathroom all the while mom is upstairs showering and getting ready for church. Or the one who sprays a new bottle of Lysol all over himself, his room and is chasing his sister also while mom is getting ready for church. Thank heavens, Mike didn't have meetings today and I could shower in peace!! But I love watching Jack play and talk and sing. He esp loves singing itsy bitsy spider! He is growing so much, talking so well and loves to do things we do. Tonight he wanted to trim his eyebrow hairs and shave his face because he watched Mike do the same this morning. Some days he is a ballerina and plays dress up with Maddy while other's he is all boy. I love you Mr Jack just the way you are and sometimes you just have to get into things to remind me how much I love you. Here are some random Jack pictures.

Jack ran outside, grabbed his lawn mower to help Mike mow the lawn.

Both kids have been picking the beans and eating them raw. We couldn't resist this one: Jack and the Beanstock!!

And who doesn't love a sleeping baby. Here he is snuggling his blanket, pongo and yogi the bear.

Harvest

Hoorray canning season is officially over (for me at least)!! We are hopefully stocked for the winter: green beans, beets, cucumber chips, stewed tomoatoes, salsa, applesauce, peaches, pears, plum juice and jam, apricot jam and spaghetti sauce.

Happy Birthday Mike! Pics!

Mike couldn't decide between lemon poppy seed cake and peach cobbler for his birthday cake. He decided to do dutch oven cobbler on Sunday and have poppy seed cake tonight! The poppy seed cake was so yummy.

Here's the recipe if you want to make one. I think it is Grama's but it may be my Aunt Sue's recipe.

Lemon Poppy Seed Cake
1 yellow cake mix ~ Duncan Heinz
1 3 oz lemon pudding and pie filling (instant)
4 eggs
1 cup water
1/3 cup orange juice (my grama puts wine in hers but oj works just great)
1/3 cup oil
1 2 oz can of poppy seeds

Beat all ingredients, pour into greased and floured bundt pan
Drizzle with lemon icing(powdered sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest)

Happy Birthday Mike!

The kids & I wrapped Mike's gifts yesterday and I told them they were a surprise and not to tell dad what was in the boxes. Jack was so excited last night, he ran up to the hiding spot and grabbed a present and wanted Mike to open it. Jack cried when Mike told him he would open it tomorrow. So on his way to work, he opened his glamourous gifts. They both told him what was in it before he opened it, so much for a surprise!! Maddy said he needed more presents--she had quite the stash a couple weeks ago. Jack sang and tonight Mike's requested Peach Cobbler for dessert!! Off to the kitchen!

Three's a crowd

I loved the show Three's a Crowd growing up, esp Chrissy. I definitely didn't know what was going on being about 6 years old and probably always laughed when the crowd did. Mike and I are happy (at the moment anyway) to announce our house will also be a crowd soon. Baby number 3 currently is about the size of a lime and doing well, the nausea is gone and hopefully after waking up at 2am and taking 2 ibu's last night baby is still well. I thought they were Tylenol but Mike told me pills labeled I-2 are ibu's. Sorry little one, we've had a rough first 3 months: the flu, strep throat heartburn and nausea which I didn't have with the first two pregnancies, we hope the next 6 months are more healthy. Baby is due March 13th! I got to schedule my ultrasound yesterday~October 27th can't be soon enough. I wanted it to be a surprise but the suspense is already killing me!

First day of preschool

Wednesday was Maddy's first day of preschool. I was more nervous for the first day of school then she was. I dreamt all night that we slept in and missed the first half of class but instead I had to wake the kids up at 8:30 to quickly eat breakfast, get dressed and make it to school by 9am. I started to tear up as I was taking pictures and gave her a hug and told her to stop growing up! I swear it was yesterday she came home from the hospital. We arrived at school and Maddy ran all the way inside. She hung up her bag and jacket and was so excited to be at school. Jack on the other hand; didn't want to leave Maddy there and wanted to stay himself. He asked all morning if we could go get Maddy from school. I guess preschool will be the hardest on little Jack.

Happy 4th Birthday Madison!!

We celebrated Maddy's 4th birthday over Labor Day weekend. Grampa, Grama, Emma, Brody and Maggie came up to help us celebrate. We had an awesome weekend. The girls went and had a pedicure, Maddy's first. She wasn't too sure about putting her feet in the water but loved getting her nails painted. She choose the color green with sparkles. She said next time she'll get her feet wet.

She patiently waited until after dinner to open her presents and the girls played with the doll house all night. After the kids were in bed, we stayed up and played games all night. I love it when family comes to visit. Thanks for a great weekend. Happy Birthday Maddy!
