Pumpkin Patch

On our way to and from the freeway is a produce stand, Shmidt's to be exact. We LOVE their corn and melons and now it's officially time to purchase pumpkins. So we loaded up in the wheelbarrow and headed to the patch.

Farmer Maddy had to get a picture on the tractor.

Lexi has officially got the "cheese" down when taking pictures.

And then I read the sign, "please do not sit, climb or be on the tractor." Sorry Jack you didn't get a picture on it.

Off we went in search of the perfect pumpkin. Although, what makes a pumpkin perfect.

Not sure. In Maddy's eyes, a perfect pumpkin is one that she can carry and the steam doesn't break off. Jack just kept putting them in the wheelbarrow, they were all perfect.

Any pumpkin was perfect for Lexi. She can't say pumpkin but repeats the sound pum, pum, pum over and over again. She was in pumpkin heaven.

We wheeled the wheelbarrow up to the stand to pay. They have this down to a science! They weighed the pumpkins and the wheelbarrow together and told us how many pounds are pumpkins were. We paid and off we were. On the way home, Jack said, "I want square eyes in mine." Soon, it'll be time to carve our jack-o-lanterns!!

Maddy decorated this for a school pumpkin contest. We did it Thursday and then the kids went to bed and I watched "Grey's" and the wart guy haunted me all night. And then I woke up and saw this on my counter. Yikes. I still get the chills and itches thinking about all those warts!

She didn't win the contest, said a rocket pumpkin one. Oh well, she had fun painting and glueing eyes all over her pumpkin.

Ahh cute! I would have voted for Maddy's for sure! It is darling! I love all the eyes, and the color looks suspiciously like Jack's room ...
What a fun day! Sorry Jack missed out on the tractor picture, though.

Maddy did a good job on her pumpkin. Macey told me that Emma's pumpkin won. But maybe that was just for Mrs. Snow's class.
Whenever I drive past Schmidts I can't believe how many pumpkins they have out there.
We haven't been to a pumpkin patch in awhile, there were some really awesome ones in the northwest.

Jack's room is blue, and that pumpkin was midnight black. So, your suspicions are off, mom. But that doesn't change how cute it turned out.
I can only say that because I didn't have a hand in it.
