When we moved to our new house, I just assumed we would be bused to school because it is over 1 1/2 miles and across Bangerter Highway. After registration, I learned that the Elementary is considered a walking school and there would be no bus. Ya right, my 5 year old is not walking that far. My friend and neighbor Camille said all we needed was 10 kids to be able to get a bus. So the phone call tree started, everyone in the neighborhood called and politely requested a bus. At first we were told no, because we needed 10 riders for each way am and pm bus. And Kindergartners only count for the session they go to school (at least 6 in the neighborhood). So we were short riders, oh well, we thought maybe next year. They would reimburse us for mileage. Ok, we tried.
And a couple days later the district called and said a bus would run and it would start next week. I guess we got lucky and a couple big strings were pulled to get us a bus! Either way Maddy is so excited to ride the bus. Here she is the first day getting off the bus.

The Principal even rode the bus home. I guess to check it out and make sure all the details were taken. Here he is Mr. Griffiths, Macey, Maddy and Emma.

Maddy just loves school. She is trying to re-learn to write her name. I believe she was 2 when she started writing it and it was always with uppercase letters (easier I guess I thought). However, school is emphasizing capital letter first then lowercase. So I've learned it's sometimes hard teaching an old dog new tricks!!

Wow, good for you for being persistent! Maddy looks thrilled to be a bus rider.
Terrific to get a bus for them! Maddy's so smart, she'll get the hang of the lower case pretty quick, I'll bet. She's anything but an old dog.
Hooray for a bus! Glad our driving time got cut in half. :)
Good for you - that would have been RIDICULOUS! Maddie looks truly happy. It's all part of growing up!
