Makinzee's Thoughts

Julie did a post called "Just ask Julie" and asked anyone to ask her a question, so I asked her the question that was troubling me. I asked her if she would always be in WI? Loved, loved, loved her response so I decided to ask myself the same question.

Will home always be in ID?

Hmm, this question came when we were in Utah for Thanksgiving and Mike's brother and sister-in-law told me they had bought cemetery plots in Lehi. I thought, geez, where would I be buried if I were to die today at my ripe old age of 31 (yikes just 16 days to 32:). How did we end up here anyway. In 2003, Mike graduated from University of Utah with his Master's Degree, the job market had plummeted and jobs were scarce. He took a low paying job with Advantage Sales and Marketing with whom he did his internship. But a low paying job was better then no job at all. Eventually that job landed him to travel to Boise, leaving Monday morning and coming home Friday evening. This got very old and after 3 months, they offered him a permanent position in Boise. It was an answer to our prayers, I had just found out I was expecting our first baby and always wanted to stay home and raise my family. With much prayer, we sold our first house in Draper in 3 days on the market and moved to Boise. We never questioned it more than a good job and allowing me to be at home. Almost 2 years ago, Mike was again looking for work with the sell out of Albertsons to SuperValu and Mike's current job to move us to MN. So we looked and were offered 2 jobs, one in UT and one in ID. It wasn't my decision and with much prayer and fasting, Mike accepted his current job with dotcomsecrets.com and it has been a good decision for both employers and kept us in Boise.

So where does that leave us. Not sure. I do love my family and miss being so close to see them more then every couple of months. I miss Sunday dinners, birthday parties not to forget the annual Price Christmas party we'll be missing and just being close to family. For now, we are happy in Boise, Idaho and it is home to us. We may continue to look elsewhere for work and we may not. I guess I'm really letting the Lord lead us where we are meant to be. I loved what Julie wrote " I have learned that happiness has more to do with knowing where your home is eternally than worrying about where it is geographically."

Julie's questions: Mike and I met Winter Semester at UVSC in Spanish class. I know I've told the story on blogger before but here's a shortened quick version for all the newcomers. He offered to tutor me since he was a return spanish speaking missionary and I was not. It was my last class, Spanish 300 and I was offended and tried everything I could to avoid him. However, each class he got cuter and cuter and I guess even though I always swore I'd marry a brown eyed boy, his blue eyes got to me. Our first official date was Feb 26 and we were engaged May 19 and married Aug 11. More then the quick engagement, the spirit really whispered to me that he was that special someone I had been praying about and on more then one occasion. And here we are 10 years later!

We Didn't know Seth tried to set you up with Mike. Mike esp wants to hear the story! And yes, I'd love to come to dinner. It is funny how parallel our lives are. One day maybe we'll both be in Utah the same time and can catch up. We'd love it!

I learn new things every day! What's funny is I always figured I would end up in Boise when I was growing up in Idaho. Never thought Utah. I'm glad you guys did. It's a lot closer than England! And I'm sure I'm speaking for Ann, too, when I say we think we've got the greatest daughters-in-law in the world!
