Every spring I get an email from the swim teachers that it's time for swim lessons. I wasn't sure I wanted to pay for Lexi to go again, she can swim and loves the water. I knew Lilly was afraid of the water and thought if I could get both girls in lessons at the same time, I could make it work.
Lilly is one who usually sits on the side lines and watches the big kids swim. I really don't mind her not liking the water but also wanted her to know if it fun!
6 lessons for $40 40 minute lessons. Both girls had lessons with 2-3 kids each time. This is Lilly's 2nd day and she made so many improvements over the 2 week lesson times. The first day she did get in the water but didn't want to blow bubbles or get her hair wet or jump off the diving board. Her teacher Courtney won her trust and got Lilly to step off to her off the diving board!
Lexi of course has no trouble with fear!
After school, we joined our friends and spent the afternoon at 7 peaks. This is Lexi and Layla out in the wave pool enjoying the sun!Jack and Lincoln taking a break in the shade and also snacking on treats.
More swim lessons. Lexi is learning to dive. She is almost as graceful as Jack was at diving. With more work, she will be right there with him.
And look at Lilly, jump off by her self into the water! Don't worry, we did have tears and a lot of bribing prep sessions to get her into the water 2 days. She wanted me in lessons with her. But the teachers (yep 2 teachers for 2 kids==win win right) worked their magic and got her to LOVE the lessons by the end of two weeks.
Swim lessons are over. It was a great experience for all of us. We were able to go right after kindergarten and lunch and be done before the big kids got home from school. Lilly did so well. She can float (with help) on her back and loves to do monkey, airplane, soldier and her ice cream scoops. She also loved jumping off the diving board.
This weekend we went swimming with cousins and Jack got Lilly to even leave the stairs (which she sat at for an hour) and swim with her life jacket on. WOW, big steps and improvement this girl is making! Way to go Lilly Meg! I wasn't so sure the first day my money was going to be worth it (more tears coming down her face than water in the pool almost) but by the end of two weeks she really enjoyed it. I wouldn't say LOVE but we will work on her all summer.
