Shoshone Falls, Idaho
We stopped outside of Twin Falls along the Snake River this weekend and saw the falls at Shoshone. I don't know all the facts but found this info online. The falls are 212 feet and are higher than Niagara Falls. They are best viewed during the spring and early summer, when water flows are high - depending on winter snow melt. Irrigation diversion of Snake River flows can significantly diminish water over the falls in the summer and fall, particularly during dry years. Last weekend the water was at it's highest point. So the sightseeing was the best. The irrigation was being diverted this week so the falls and it was very worth the $3 ticket to the lower level. To get to the falls, take the main Twin exit and follow the signs about 8 miles into town.

Oh, that looks like SO much fun! When we went to the Twin Falls dedication, we meant to stop by, but we never did. The ironic part was that we were with our sister-in-law and her two kids who are AVID waterfall seekers and we FORGOT to take them there. We have never seen it ourselves, either, although I have been to Niagara Falls.
Anyway, thanks SO much for this post. We have to leave this Saturday for three hours, so you just gave me a GREAT idea of where to head. I hope this weekend will be nice, too. At least we would get to see it before we left Idaho. Thanks for sharing. Cute pictures!
As much as Brent likes waterfalls, I've never been able to get him to leave the beaten path in Idaho long enough to stop here very often. Sad result is that most of you kids really don't have memories of these falls. We did stop a few times, but never when they were going over full like this. So glad you had a chance to see it! It is so much a part of my growing up life. Every special occasion was spent picnicking there.
(And rolling down the hills there!)
