Year End Tournaments

With 3 kids playing ball we have spent a lot of time watching ball and honestly have loved every minute of it. Maddy's end of year tournament was first this year. Her team was placed 9th out of 10th. They played a great first game, won and then had to play the 1st place team. They did so good. The pitcher was amazing and no one in the league could hit off of her. Maddy got a good hit and we were so happy with the team. We did loose the game and played a double header to the 10th place team. Maddy was on 3rd base but couldn't get home to tie the game. It was a sad end to a great season but a wonderful learning experience. Maddy realized she really wanted to keep playing and loved the game. I just signed her up for another quick league and she hopes to play more softball in the fall. Here are some pictures of her season.

Wouldn't you know it we would have two year end tournaments the same night and almost at the same time. Jack's first game with the Nationals vs the Dodgers. I left when we were up 7-1, unfortunately, they came back and we lost. The consolation bracket was the next game at 7:30, I was already at Lexi's game that started at 6:30. I was so grateful Brent, Julie and Grandma were there to cheer her on because I was late! Imagine that. Lexi's team beat the purple team. We ran back to Jack's game vs the Yankees. Jack held them and they won their 2nd game of the year to end the season.

Jack also found out that he made the all stars team and is so excited!!
His all star team

We were back the next night to have the Tigers play the Fireballs aka Black team. They lost to the black team (they're undefeated), and the following night played purple again to be back in the championship game. The next game was against black again. If we beat them, we would have to play them again for the championship. We were up the entire game. In the last inning, we were up 7-6 and guess who was up~ Lexi was up to bat first. YIKES, talk about nerves for mom. But she got a hit and made it to first. Kenzee struck out (her first all season) and then Kinley hit a pop fly which they caught and Lexi got tagged out at first because she was on 2nd and didn't tag the base. Black got up and there biggest girl who looks like she is in 6th grade not 8 years old hit a beautiful drive to give them the win. We were so close! BUT we didn't let it bug us we still placed 2nd in the season and 2nd in the tournament. We were also missing two of our best players. BUT the smiles here show lots of good times at the ball field.
Here's Lexi showing off her jewels. A trophy for 2nd place and a medal for the tournament 2nd place. I owe Lexi, 2 snowcones, a pack of gum, a sundae and cash for her hits in the last day of tournament play. She is on fire!! Way to go Tigers and Lexi.
Lexi plays catcher one or two innings per game, the first game she was embarrassed and said Mom did you see me in my armor? I said you mean the catchers gear. By the end of the year, she looked forward to being catcher! And didn't mind that she was the last to bat, she called it the clean up crew. She was the youngest on the team.

Love her smirk in this photo!!
