Friday, marked the 100th day of Lexi in 1st grade. To show that the 1st graders were 100 days smarter, the children could dress up like they were 100 years old. Lexi was all over it. Hard to see in the photo but her hair was spray painted grey (just like Mom's), she has wrinkles (just like Mom's), and a cute shawl and hunch back. Her glasses aren't really 100 years old but were all we had! She got to eat a pretzel stick and two white powdered donuts to celebrate in addition to counting and writing to 100!
We also just had Parent/Teacher Conferences. She read 1699 minutes this term and has moved up to level H in reading. (which is right on track for 1st grade). She counts with her fingers when doing math, I think sometimes it sounds like she is from the south the way she talks (she doesn't say her R's-but Mrs. L. said that's okay), she love recess, libraries, iPads, computers, friends and lunch. Recently, I started getting notices from the lunch workers that her account was below zero. I was so confused because I almost always make her home lunch. Little stinker decided she wanted milk, which is only $.25/day but was taking her account little by little below zero. She is quite picky eater so home lunch is her preference. But mac n cheese or mini corn-dogs are on the menu she is all over it! Her goal was to work on her handwriting, she moved up from a 2 to a 3 and next term her goal is to get a 4. She is also going to work on Razz Kids (online books), continue to get her reading grade level up and write to 120. She gets confused after 100 and writes 1011 instead of 111. She is a delight in class. She also loves Mom to come volunteer on Thursdays.
At PTC, Jack's teacher complimented Jack on his positive attitude, his genuine good, his manners, how polite and kind and considerate he is and that he is a great helper. He is doing well also in school. We are working on his Wax Museum biography of Steve Jobs and his report due the end of the month. He stayed constant on his handwriting. He is on reading level R, right on track and had mostly 4's and E's also. Just 3 3's on her report card. He is working harder on spelling tests, a whiz at math, loves Reflex and is doing well in his reading group as well as on track to receiving his Fantastic Falcon at the end of the school year. He is on His goal is to work at correct typing. He loves to play a race car typing game but has developed some bad habits! I hope it's not too late to fix them. He is participating in choir, loves to run at jogging, just got his 200th lap at school (requirement for FF), and is a hard worker! We are working on getting his comprehension up. Somehow, I'm afraid he inherited that from me! I hate it also.
Madison had all 4's and E's on her report card which is straight A's and Excellent for Citizenship. She excels at everything, told her teacher she is learning and isn't board, loves to Read. She is on reading level Z. Her goal is 100% of math tests, which she is doing, loves to be at school. She got the stomach flu last week and probably should have stayed home from school 2 days but it was killing her to miss 1. When she threw up, she said does this mean I can't go to school today (it was 3am). She is participating in choir and just got the part Cinderella in the program! She is so excited. That means choir practice 4x a week instead of 2!
Jack photo bombing Madison's picture! Crazy kid and goof ball he always is! Love the laughter and smiles he brings to our house.
To celebrate Dad being on business trip all week long, we enjoyed free burgers at Burger King. If the kids get 100% on a test, the teachers signs the test and they can turn it in for a free hamburger. Not sure if this is what made Maddy sick but this is what came up! Luckily no one else this week was sick. Lilly the next week, not so lucky. Crossing my fingers, the flu is gone!
Pinewood Derby took place while Dad was gone also. The Cubs worked hard on their cars and Jack was so proud of his cheese car! He did a great job at the race also. This year it was ran a little different. The cars raced 1 time on each track 3 total and then a final score was taken. Kindof stunk to have raced early but the event director let the boys and Dads race after everything was done.
Weather is warming up. One day, I had Lilly go ride her bike around the block. Maddy too, she was sick this day. We all needed some fresh air. I get busy working, doing dinner, cleaning, project life and this girl watches a lot of youtube! So the nice weather will be helpful to have her go outside and play more. Me too. We planted onions and peas and cabbage and broccoli Friday. Excited for the grass to turn green but will miss the snow covered mountains!
Lilly also loves to play the computer. Sunday's kill her when we have a no iPad, no TV, no computer kindof day!
Look what is blooming outside! I need to remember to plant more. Not sure why daffodils stop blooming, they always bring up the green grass part but eventually loose the blooms. The yellow is so fun to see popping up.
Friday night, Mike returned from San Jose's Google conference but had baseball meeting. Jen took Maddy and Jack with her to Trafalga to play and Lilly and Lexi and I started the birthday weekend with Disney On Ice Frozen style.
We went to dinner before, unfortunately had to settle for Arctic Circle because it was so crowded everywhere on a Friday night. BUT these two didn't care, a kids meal with a bunny and sitting on a horse saddle to eat they were more than thrilled.
BUT they were all smiles. Even dressed up as Elsa and Anna like hundred of other little fans! It really was fun to see, how excited Disney fans can be at Disney on Ice. My least favorite part is the selling prices. Of course the kids want the wands ($30-50), the snow cones($12-20, the Olaf cotton candy hat ($15). I ended up buying an Olaf snow cone because intermission is longer than it needs to be. BUT it's all part of the magic and kids always want, want, want. Heck, even I do!
We really enjoyed the show. The singing, the ice skating and the memories made.
This is the big snow monster. He was a giant inflatable that moved around the ice like he was battery operated. It was a great show!
She is so excited for her upcoming birthday. Which unfortunately for her is the end of the month. She thought once it was March it would be her birthday! She is patiently waiting. We started a sticker project. When she makes her bed, gets dressed on her own, cleans up her clothes, brushes her teeth, empty's dishwasher without CRYING or WHINING she gets a sticker. We have been to the store twice to redeem her prize. Sometimes she just needs a little encouragement to not be the baby.
After riding horses we went to Pizza Pie Cafe with Bill & Steph & girls and most of Utah County along with Trina and her daughters who were down from Idaho for the a baby blessing this weekend. It was also fun to see Uncle Dan who was in town. The movie was so cute, kids are already asking if we can own it in our collection. Too bad that isn't tomorrow. May have to go see it again!
It was a long week, with Mike gone. Glad he's back. Baseball practice started last week. Jack made the Giants! Lexi starts tomorrow and I'm sure Maddy also this week. Welcone to ball season!
