Memorial Day Weekend

We celebrated Memorial Day weekend in Utah visiting family and friends and to go see the graves. We left Boise Friday afternoon, our first stop was the Holladay Cemetery to see Grama Brooke and Great Grandpa Ardo's graves. We then went up to Great Gramie Maggies and had dinner (yum pot roast with chili sauce:). After a 5 hour car drive the kids were hyper and rowdy and into everything and I'm sure Gramie thought no wonder I am insane I take care of them daily. Luckily, my dad was there to take most of the abuse. One time of year I love going to the cemetery is Memorial Day weekend. Here's my mom's grave with some flowers.

After dinner, we headed down to Lehi to spend the first part of our trip with the Loveridge's. My in-laws are remodeling their house, so we all stayed at Bill & Stephanie's house. They live in Lehi too and just finished their basement. It was so cozy and nice to be able to have all the space we needed. We stayed up way to late and finally got the kids in bed at 10:30pm. Of course, they woke up early Saturday morning. Stephanie and I snuck over to Rod Works one of my favorite places to shop and I wanted so much but came home with a couple things. After naps and catching up on our sleep, we went to Thanksgiving Point's Farm Country. Our first picture was on this cow. Here are the "cheeze" smiles.

We even got Kamryn to pose for a picture on top of the cow (she's 10 months).

Here's the group minus the photographers Grama and Grampa. As you can see the kids were interested in looking at the animals more then getting a group picture taken. In the picture is our family with Mike's brother Bill, Stephanie and Kamryn.

Here are some of the animals we saw.

What's a farm without pigs! They must be babes, look at their cute little tails. And ohhh how did they smell like pigs, but nothing like Suey our potbelly pig we had growing up.

I have never seen a peacock with its feather's out. And there were several showing off for the females. They would ruffle their bums and fan their feathers. It's the same for humans or birds the men are always trying to impress us.


Geese and baby goslings? (that's what a baby goose is right). The little pond also had ducks but the geese were right up front.

Jack really enjoyed all of the animals. He was feeding these ducks some corn seed and they loved him too!

Maddy saw the carousel and that's all she wanted to do. She didn't care of about all the animals in cages and wanted to ride a horse. She patiently waited til we were done with the animals and then rode "Blondie."As you can tell, she is all natural having been on a horse before at Grampa Price's house.

Jack was on a horse also but kept trying to jump off at least Maddy enjoyed it.

Our next big stop was Thomas the Train and friends on the Heber Kreeper. Here is a picture of the famous train! We stood in line to get our picture taken with Thomas but he took off just as we reached the front of the line. It was so cold and rainy we didn't last that long but did enjoy our short train ride on Thomas.

There were lots of activities including puzzles, coloring, playing with trains, watching a huge train constructed out of Lego's, temp. tattoos, animal petting and of course riding the train. Maddy & Emma are putting together a puzzle.

I think Jack really wanted to take home this train, but left it behind. He didn't feel very good and stayed in Mike's arms the entire day. So much for doing things for your kids right. For some reason whenever we plan something fun the weather always sucks and the kids always get sick! Oh well, it was definitely worth it!

Our train left promptly at 10:30am, and here we are awaiting its departure. I didn't get a picture of Brody enjoying the ride and the conductors enthusiasm but I'm sure you can picture both of their excitement. Here are Maddy & Emma waiting.

The best part of going to see Thomas was seeing my friends. This is Courtney with Makali and Jonathan. Jonathan is a pro at riding trains--he went to the Grand Canyon last year to ride on Thomas.

Becky and I once dreamed of living by each other when we both lived in Draper (yikes over 4 years ago-Becky is in Phoenix and we're in Boise so much for our dream--at least both of parents are still in Utah so we can see each other once in a while). Our dream was to raise our babies and hang out all the time. It's been about 3 years since we've seen each other and our babies are 1,2, and 3 and almost 4. At least Thomas brought us together!!

Balloon makers (not sure what else to call them) made these creations for the kids. Jack had a blue dog, Maddy a flower hat and Emma a bear.

Here we are waiting in line to get a picture in front of Thomas but the train took off. At least we got the # 1 partial pictured. We all headed to Dairy Keen in Heber for hamburgers and french fries. My cousins Bridgit and Andy also met us there, then we went to the Heber Cemetary to see the graves and it started pouring again. BTW, the Heber Cemetary is so beautiful I absolutely love going there and seeing all the flowers. I really wanted a picture of Jack by Grampa Jack's grave (kindof morbid huh) but it was raining and he was asleep so we said our goodbyes and ventured back to Boise. All in all our Memorial Day weekend was good despite the weather, the coughs and the sneezing. The weather was rainy and cold but we had a great weekend being with family and friends.
