We started his big day heading up to Ruth's up Immigration Canyon. We sat out on the patio with heaters on us. Not to chilly but fall is definitely in the air. Of course some of us were prepared and wearing a new RED sweat shirt. Mike was in the minority at our breakfast, everyone else on our table was wearing BLUE!
Jack is testing out his hot chocolate and eating his biscuit with raspberry jam.

Maddy trying not to get her picture taken. She was hungry but look what came out shortly. Her funny face pancake!
Half the table ordered this...Eggs Benedict. They are heavenly, my mouth is watering just thinking about it!And a couple more pictures. Didn't get one of Julie or Brent who were also eating breakfast with us.
And of course some of these are Julie's who was busy taking pictures while we were waiting for breakfast to be served.

After breakfast and farewells and announcements, our family drove to the U on the mountain. After all Mike's birthday fell on game day. We needed to celebrate! We explained to the kids about BYU and U of U playing football and that today was a big rivalry day. They didn't watch the game and therefore didn't really care. Although, they all choose blue to wear that day when asked if they wanted to wear blue or red. We all should have worn red!! Oh well, there's always next year.
After leaving the U, the kids were very disappointed that we weren't going to the see the Y on the mountain!
Instead, we headed home, Mike helped the neighbors lay sod. We went to our wards party for dinner and then came home, quickly frosted a couple cupcakes before the big game started. Mike didn't want a cake and was just asking for cakes that I like, so I decided in honor of the big game to make blue and red cupcakes.
Hope your wish was for the Utes to win because it for sure came true!
We watched the game at our neighbors house and enjoyed more yummy food. I skipped lunch but still ate enough calories to make up for it. It was a fun filled day. Happy Birthday Mike!

Those eggs benedict look yummy! And since I am super nosy now I am wondering what "announcements" were made after breakfast?
It was a fun day. Loved joining you for breakfast. Wish every birthday could start off that way. Sounds like the rest of the day was equally fun! And so glad Mike was dressed appropriately for the entire day!
We have GOT to get our hubbies together! They love all the same teams! Let's plan a date night for sometime in October or November! Meet for dinner somewhere in SLC? You guys in? Happy Birthday to Mike! Go UTES! :)
ps-I also am being nosy.....announcements?????? ;)
...the only 'announcement' I can think of is that Lexi just started her potty training. Although, two pairs of poopy underwear over the past 2 nights certainly takes some of the luster off it.
Looks like fun!! Mike - glad you cheered for the right team! Ummm...I don't think it's fair to announce and announcement without actually announcing the announcement. Does that make sense? ;)
