Halloween 2011

Halloween=Busy non stop fun!
Friday: We headed down after school to Lehi. Made a stop at Ikea and left because someone was in desperate need of a nap. She did fall asleep in the car on our way to Great Grandma and Grandpa Loveridge's to pick apples!! YAY, I'm so excited. I've done several batches of dehydrated apples and applesauce is in the plans for the weekend! Trunk or Treat: Soup, Bread sticks and DESSERT and cousins! Then we headed outside to walk from Trunk to Trunk and get treats. Lexi wasn't taking what she was offered, instead she was grabbing handfuls. It was COLD. But the kids each came home with an orange bucketful of candy.

Saturday: Lots of last minute things to do to get ready for the weekend and winter that is fast approaching. Not on the agenda was Mike injuring his finger. We are landscaping our front yard with boulders. The boulders were manageable with our neighbors dolly. After Mike used the dolly to get the boulders from the street to the planters box, you needed to move the bolder into the right spot. Unfortunately Mikes finger got stuck between the rocks. Instantly he had a black fingernail! And his bloody finger 5 days later  is still bleeding. It didn't need stitches just got hurt really bad! THe following day he drilled several holes in his fingernail to let the blood out. Thank goodness he didn't ask me to do this! It is definitely a Halloween related event. Thank goodness he was wearing a glove! And we didn't take a trip to the ER! And he still has a finger!
Back to the Saturday's events. Here we are, kind of dressed up for the party. We forgot to get the "cop" part of our costume from Mike's brother who is a cop so we both went as robbers.
When we were putting our hats down to take a picture, Lexi decided she also wanted to be a robber!

Our house was full to the max! Not a seat to spare! Wish we could have invited more. Next year we need to find a bigger venue so we can have a bigger party! Here are some of the guests of honor.
Bob Ross and his Wife. The best part of Bob was his roll playing. He knew his stuff and was painting "happy" trees all night. If you don't know who Bob Ross is youtube him. He is the artist that paints on PBS.
Cop and his Department of Correction girl on their way to jail
Buddy the Elf and Jovie. Buddy won best costume although several others came in a close 2nd/3rd/4th. Costume from head to toe was perfect! Way to go!
Here is the treat they brought to share. It says
"We elves try to stick to the four main food groups:

Candy, Candy Canes, Candy Corns and Syrup"

In the back are small packets of syrup.
And what good sports for coming to the party even after being "hit and run" and having a "bad" date for the prom!
Marilyn Monroe and her Pirate "booty"
Wonder Woman and her partner in crime
Billy Bob had us laughing all night long. He played the party. Look closely and you can see his dark sideburns and teeth. The mullet is hard to see as are his "mom" and "Chevrolet" tattoos. He brought his little "hotty" to enjoy the party.
Steven Tyler...picture doesn't do justice how truly tight the pants were, he also brought one of the girls from his concert to the party and I'm sure home with him too.

We had a great evening filled with yummy food and laughs and fun. The kids asked why they weren't invited, they wanted in on the good times. ALTHOUGH, they had a blast. Grandma and Grandpa L took them to Chuck-E-Cheeses. They had pizza, games, watched Chuck dance and went into the wrong bathroom. We are so grateful they helped us have a great Halloween Eve. Thanks again for playing with the kids while we party'ed!

Sunday: Church and carving pumpkins. Lexi patiently waited for mom to cut off the top and then I told her it was her turn to scoop out the good stuff and of course save the seeds. This is about as close to the inside of the pumpkin as she came, she kept saying "it's yucky."
Maddy didn't mind getting her hands dirty. Although she kept using napkin after napkin to try and clean her hand off. She did her pumpkin all by herself again this year. Good thing  because mom was trying to be in 3 places at once. Dad was at a meeting but came to the rescue and carved Lexi's hardest pumpkin on the planet.
And Jack-o-lantern with his white pumpkin! We improvised on his a lot too. It was very thick and hard to do what he wanted but I think we were both pleased with the final project.

Later that night we went to Lehi for Sunday dinner and yummy soups and bread sticks and carmel apples! We all left rolling out of there. I myself gained 2 pounds on the weekend.
Monday: Lexi and I went to the kids parade at school. She found her BFF and they had a couple pictures taken together.
Parade time. Jacks class was first up and he was almost first in line that I had to wait til the second time around to snap his picture. He was one of a couple Luigi's that day...tons of Mario's however.
Maddy was last in her class and walked through the parade like she was at church very reverently!! JK she is an adorable witch. It's hard to tell but both Lexi and Maddy have black hair to complete the witch's look. You should see my bathtub and the hair 2 days later is still not the same color. Oh well! They both loved it.

Trick or Treat time finally came Monday night. We ate mummy dogs for dinner! They kids loved them and they weren't that bad tasting. We meet up with several friends in the area and walked and walked to the houses begging for candy. Lexi was shoffered in the stroller. Mike did all the hard work, guess he gets to eat the candy. We enjoyed several visitors along the way...Grampa an Grama P came to watch the kids Trick or Treat and then Brody stopped by to see the kids also. They came home and snacked and enjoyed what they could before they were off to bed for school the next morning.

Missed you on Halloween, but had a ball with the kids at Chuck E. Cheeses, the Trunk-n-Treat and Sunday dinner! I can't complain. Loved the costumes this year. Mike didn't have to go all out for his by giving himself a robber's thumb, however. Hope it's starting to heal. One of these days I may actually post some of the photos I got from Saturday and Sunday.

How fun to have such a big group of friends nearby, and all of them so creative too. I love Buddy the Elf's food tray. Hilarious! Your kiddos look awfully cute too. Every year I want to get those orange and black striped tights but so far they have never matched any of our costumes.
