We weren't the only one who had the idea of Monday night pumpkin picking--it was crowded but manageable aferall it is a giant field full of pumpkins! We climbed the tractor for a picture and then went in search of the perfect pumpkin or a pumpkin that Mom okayed. I'm so mean. I'll explain later.
Lexi found a million pumpkins just her size. My criteria for a pumpkin was that they had to be able to carry it.
Lilly wasn't so sure what we were doing but enjoyed crouching down with me as I took her picture (I crouched down to take it so she did the same--she is definitely a copy cat ).
Here is where I was mean. Jack found this pumpkins and he kind of carried it but it was giant and a different variety so it was going to cost more per pound and he really hates carving pumpkins. He doesn't like to scoop out the seeds and guts and I knew either me or Mike would be doing it. Let also it was so thick he'd never be able to carve it, so I said no even tho he dragged it to the wheelbarrow. We got home and he didn't really care that I bought a different pumpkin for him.
Maddy tried to find the perfectly shaped pumpkin, she didn't like the warty ones (me either) and wanted an orange one. She found a keeper also!
We lined up to pay for the pumpkins and Mike laughed at the Petting Zoo sign, the first animal was a goat that had a sign that said "I bite!" So much for a petting zoo!!We got our wheelbarrow of pumpkins weighed in and paid $11 for 5 pumpkins. Not bad. Mike even got a big one. The farm was fun they had lots of activities. Picking pumpkins is definitely a fall favorite tradition even if Mom is a little OCD about it:)
