To kickoff the Easter weekend we started out by dyeing eggs. I forget how messy this is by the end the kids were mixing colors and ohhh the dye was everywhere. This year we wrapped rubber bands around some of the eggs and then dyed them and then removed the bands and dyed them again so they were two toned. I won't bore you with how the eggs turned out dyeing with rubber bands but it was something new. The kids had so much fun dying eggs and love deviled eggs. Good thing what else do you do with all those hard boiled eggs?

Didn't take Jack long to try out each color to see what it tasted like. I can just hear the conversation in his head, hmm, vinegar too? maybe the next one will be different. His hands kept changing colors.

Saturday morning we woke up and went to Ann Morrison park for an Easter egg hunt. Yikes, it was crowded, we were at the park early, got balloons and bunny ears (although the kids refused to wear them thus no picture with ears in it) and finally it was time for the hunt. It was also very cold but they had a lot of fun and came home with a basket full of stuff.

The hunt was very well organized and divided according to age. Age 0-2 was first and parents could help. This was the biggest group so no pix gathering the eggs but here is an after picture with chocolate running down Jack's chin. He got the hang of it and had so much fun.
Maddy & mom went 2nd and Maddy came home with a basket full also.
After the hunt we went out to the back yard to work in the garden. Maddy played while I weeded and got ready to plant strawberries. Jack was taking a nap and Mike was out getting his pine wood derby car all fixed up for the big race on Thursday (pix to come). Saturday night the kids went to bed and woke up to find baskets, candy, sunglasses, paints, and Grama and Grampa! G&G were going to come up for Easter and bring Jack's new bed (it's at their house) but something came up and they weren't going to make it up to Boise. About 6 o'clock they were in Layton and didn't have anywhere to go so they drove up to Boise without anything not even a toothbrush. They knocked on our door about 10pm and we were so surprised. The best present anyone could ask for! We stayed up too late talking and laughing; the kids woke up very early Sunday morning to look for their baskets and found G&G too. Here are some pictures of finding treasures in their baskets.

What's Easter without peeps?

Jack doesn't like jelly beans and kept feeding them to grandpa.

After crepes and strawberries for breakfast we got all dressed up to go to church. Tifani borrowed a dress and we went to church.
Maddy has been wanting the Easter bunny to bring her glasses and good thing they were in her basket! Here she is modeling them while singing the song "going on a bear hunt with her backpack."

Maddy has an endless supply of dresses so I tried to use one to match an outfit for Jack. I found this handsome 4 piece suit at Ross for $19.99 and got 2 pair of shoes (these white ones and another black pair for church ) on eBay for $2.85. He looked so handsome, I am going to have his birthday pictures taken in the suit next month and he'll get to use the suit in June for my bro's wedding. He wasn't too excited about posing for a picture

but soon was giggling and laughing

G&G&M&J

After church, we went to lunch at Sizzler and they headed back to Utah. BUT the visit is a surprise, Emma (my little sis and the kids aunt) wanted to come so bad. Since the trip was a spur of the moment she didn't come and didn't even now they were here. So shhhh! Missed ya Emma. Thanks for the awesome surprise Easter Bunny (ps we also got a new car for Easter.)
Happy Easter!

That is awesome that they just came to see you guys on such a whim. It looks like Maddy and Jack adore them! Yay, how great, and I know you love to see them too! Happy Easter!
P.S. What??? Is Brody getting married???
Looks like you guys had a great Easter weekend. Surprises are always the BEST!! You guys got a new car?? What kind? My dream car is the Acura MDX. Maybe someday I will get one of those for Easter!! Glad you guys had a fun weekend. :)
P.s. I love Maddy's model pose in her Easter dress. I missed the new car part. What did you get??
It looks like such a fun weekend with activities and family abounding! Jack's dyed hands made me laugh. Vinegar - ewww! Their outfits are adorable and you'll get two uses out of them- bonus! Glad you all had a wonderful Easter.
I went to trade in the Dodge Grand caravan minivan for a Honda Pilot but I really wanted a Yukon but after test driving and seeing the lack of space ended up with a Honda Odyssey, so a minivan mom I remain. Couldn't give up all that space and the convenience of opening on own doors. BUT I love it!
Looks like you guys had a fun weekend! Your kids look like they had a blast. Minivan moms rock!
Cute Easter pics. I love that you have the little thoughts of what are going through Jack's mind as he's tasting the died vinegar. By the way, that's my kind of Easter present, a new car! I'm not sure I'm ready for a minivan but then again I don't have any kids yet. P.S. your Dad's wife is so cute, what a lucky guy!
Fun weekend! Easter is the best. Jacks haircut is so adorable, I love it!!
Great Easter pictures, Kinz. Your kids are growing so much. I enjoy seeing them through your blogspot. Thanks. Happy spring susanperri (Aunt Susan)
Ok, j/k! I guess I didn't realize you already had a minivan! Oops! Now you just have a COOLER minivan! :) I'm all about the Yukon too. One of these days....
