Memorial Day Weekend Recap

Memorial Day Weekend we headed up to see Thomas the Train and meet up with cousins Bridget, Gary, Anna, Nicholas and Gavin.

If you have had the privilege of one day of "A day out with Thomas the Train" you've probably had enough and don't want to pay to do it again. We were headed up to Heber Valley for Memorial Day to visit the cemetery and go to The Ranch so we stopped in and see Thomas the Train again only this time for free. The temperature was perfect especially because it was supposed to be rainy and cold. The sun was shining and we had a great time. And didn't pay a thing. Sorry for all those who did pay, we did years back. Here's proof.

And on our way out we got an official picture with Thomas. We didn't stand in the main line for this picture but still got him (and other's around too).

After Thomas we drove into town and had lunch at the Dairy Keen. Most of the fans at Thomas the Train were there too. It was packed as usual. They have a cool soda machine that has 123 flavors of pop. The kids meals come with train hats. We ate a delicious fresh raspberry shake and a mystery drink with lots of add ins.
Here's 1/2 our group. Nickolas, Jack, Maddy, Anna

After lunch we stopped at the cemetery to see the graves. Heber has lots of Price relatives including my great grandparents, Grandpa Jack is also there whom Jack's name is from, we also have cousins Jake and Rachel. Heber Cemetary is always so crowded and lined with flags and people. We left Heber and headed up to The Ranch. Bridget and Gary took the young boys home for a much needed nap. We took Anna with us up to the Ranch. When she walked in my parents home, she said "this is so big-they must be rich." haha, yes they are!

Jack loves to spend weekends up at the Ranch playing with Grampa. Jack helps Grampa move the water lines, ride 4 wheelers, feed the horses and cows, play with Chester and of course play Super Mario Brothers.

Anna loved every minute of it! Anna wore her cowboy clothes to see the horses and cows. And a cowgirl has to ride the horse.

Maddy wanted mom to ride with her, I told her she could do it and not be scared. She loved it!

This cowgirl loved it and cried when we got off. It was starting to rain and mom was done. Grampa was happy to have someone love to ride.

We left after chowing on trail mix and headed home late Saturday night. Sunday we went to church and enjoyed a relaxing day at home with no meetings:). We got invited to celebrate Ally's 4th Birthday and enjoyed cake and ice cream and socializing with the Shosted Family and friends. Jack and Ally are always talking about marrying each other. We'll take her--she has the biggest brown eyes and is another child at our house most days. I always wanted a brown eyed child, I'll settle for brown eyed grand babies (however 20 years into the future please).

Monday we went to lunch with Grammie at Cafe Rio and to the Holladay Cemtary to visit Grandma Brooke's aka my mom's grave. Madison Brooke get her name from Grandma. I just love Cemetery's on Memorial Day weekend. It is always so colorful and peaceful and beautiful. This year just as we arrived, we enjoyed music from a bag pipe player playing Johnny Boy. Nothing more touching and fitting that that. We headed back home for some yard work and a quick nap and then down to Lehi for a Memorial Day BBQ with the Loveridge's. We ate like kings (as usual) Asian chicken mango kabobs and salads and watermelon and chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert.

It was a fun filled, action packed weekend!

Sounds like you guys had a fun weekend! I love the pics, especially with the horses. And parent of the year for going to Thomas, we did it last year and though Noah had fun we were disappointed by the ' train ride'. Your kids were lucky! :) How is your garden doing? Haber you had to add any other stuffed animals to guard?

It's unfortunate that the weather was so cold over the weekend, but looks like you all made the best of it! Great times! So glad we got to share a minute with you on Monday.

You guys stayed busy! My kids have never been horse back riding and I would love to take them this summer. So fun! It's funny how kids will talk about people being "rich". Alex and Alyssa tell people all the time how wealthy my mom is and it really embarrasses me sometimes, especially since she is not. They were just lucky enough to be the first grandkids so she can still afford to spoil the tar out of them.

What a fun weekend. You packed enough fun things in to make for great memories for the kids. Hope your darling children realize how really rich they are too. They are so rich in all the ways that really count! You're really terrific parents!
