August

No this isn't a new look. My blog froze and I am trying to get it cute again.
So far August has been pretty random. So to go with that here are lots of random pictures. This one was cuddled up on the couch this morning with her babies watching cartoons. School starts in 12 days and I'm glad at least one will be home chilli' with me!

This is today's harvest! Not bad huh. Jack loves to help me pick in the garden. I was concerned that my potatoes were dieing. I pulled the top that was all brown and noticed a HUGE rock in my planter box, to my surprise it was a HUGE potato. YUM, potato salad for dinner! And please if you want zucchinis let me know! I think I've got enough tomatoes to do a batch of salsa this week! Yay!
These pictures were on the camera, taken while  I was at camp.

  Big & Lil' Sis!

And apparently the new blogger uploads differently. So these pictures are in reverse order. Here is the kids after our hike at Temple Quarry!

Lots of lizards on the hike. AND so many dragonflies.

We spent FHE at Temple Quarry. This is up 9000 S at the mouth of the canyon. This is the place where the pioneers quarried granite quartz. They would take a metal spike and hammer it in between rocks. The picture above is a mark left. When they had just the right rock for the temple they'd haul it down the mountain loaded on oxen for 4 days. No wonder the temple took 40 years to build. The kids enjoyed our little hike so much we plan on taking them again this weekend. BUT to a bigger and better hike.

Never even thought to try to go up to that quarry. For all the stories I've heard about the pioneers going up there, you'd think it might have occurred to me to check it out when it was in my backyard. Oh well. Nice work on the garden too.

I didn't even know that the quarry still existed! Haha. Looks so fun. And I am SO JEALOUS of your garden! Mine is just limping along. I guess that's what I get for planting so late. I'm sure all my tomatoes will finally get ripe after I have the baby, so that I won't even be able to can them or anything. Haha.

I don't know how I missed your post?! Your veggies look so scrumptious! Mmm garden dinners! I don't recognize Maddy with her hair down...and it looks so dark. Glad you had fun at the Quarry- I'm dying to go up there and look for goats in the fall...and for some Octoberfest at Snowbird too!!
