ouch

A couple weeks ago our neighborhood had a Meet your Neighbor bbq. We had a great turn out and got to meet some new faces and the kids were having a great time playing with each other and of course enjoying lots of yummy salads and desserts( BTW Camille I need your PB cookie recipe:). Apparently, the kids got bored and started climbing up the light post outside our house. Jack is very proud that he has made it up the pole and down several times. Next up was Jackson. He too has climbed the pole several times although this time, he slipped and fell about 10 feet. His dad ran to him, picked him up, jumped in their car and off they were to the ER. He suffered a complete break of the femur and a 2-inch laceration across the cheek.

Here he is 24 hours later. His expression on his face just breaks my heart.

The next morning, Jack made a card for Jackson and this was his picture. He was traumatized by it as well. Jackson is being a trooper and playing lots of wii, watching movies and patiently healing. Jack has been down a played with him. What a bummer last month of summer for his mom Emily and Jackson. 4-6 weeks and the cast should come off.

Lesson: DON'T CLIMB LAMP POSTS!!!

OH. MY. GOSH. That brings back some memories. Stratton broke his femur when he was about 20 months old. He was supposed to get a full spika cast like that, but luckily he didn't have to have the big bar. But oh man do I feel that mom's pain!!!

Oh mercy! I have never even seen a cast like that. I don't even know him but my heart hurts for him and his momma. They are getting added to my prayers.

Poor Jackson- that picture breaks my heart too!
P.S. you are going to be pretty disappointed by my "awesome" PB cookie recipe- it's called being lazy and using a Krusteaz cookie mix. Pretty fancy, eh?

Sounds like he is starting to heal, if Jack is able to go down and play with him. Thank heavens for WII! And after hearing the story, the card Jack made is also heartbreaking. How sobering to realize how quickly la la land can turn into nightmare horror. Hope he continues to heal fast and it won't be long before he and Jack are running through the neighborhood.
