San Diego

Mike attended his meetings in Las Vegas Saturday morning the kids swam and by lunch time we were in the car with a happy meal headed to San Diego. Lilly was immediately asleep and slept for a couple hours. This portion of the drive was so LONG! Not sure why, it just felt forever. Lilly was awake and knew it was forever too. She didn't really care to watch a movie. I jumped in the back and sat by her although that didn't really help at all. Finally we were there. It was about 5.5 hours. I think it was worse because it was in the middle of the day and then it was dinner time and we were still driving.

Oh well. We finally arrived in San Diego. We stayed one night at the La Quinta in Old Town San Diego. It was a beautiful part of San Diego, if we had been kid-less we would have enjoyed a night out at one of the cute restaurants. We couldn't find anything with a drive thru so we ate cereal in the hotel room instead. LOL.

Our next adventure of the trip was Sea World. It didn't close for a couple hours so we went over. Our pass included 7 entry's. When we arrived we still had to pay to park $15. Luckily we asked for a discount and got it comped!

We arrived and checked out the place. We did the Pet Show and really enjoyed it.

We saw the sharks. You walk above ground and see the sharks swimming and then go below where they have a walk thru  aquarium. Lilly loved it. It really was fascinating to almost be next to sharks! Although, that night I had a dream that she fell in the water.....you can fill in the blanks therefore the next day we did NOT go back to the aquarium. Mike giggled at me.

Then we walked over to the penguins. They sure were stinky even being outdoors. But Lilly loved these guys too.

They also have an indoor observatory where we watched the penguins interact. It was dark inside because Sea World mimics their climate and in Antarctica it is winter now and gets darker earlier. Fascinating to learn that even though the penguins live in California they still mimic the climate they are accustomed too.

We loved these penguins. They were kissing and hugging. 




After the penguins the kids rode the helicopter. Lexi was so excited because after being measured she WAS tall enough to ride. She loved it and talked about the helicopter all trip. The next time she went on the ride and had to go to the bathroom just before the ride started. Mike took her to the restroom and then the next time they went thru the line the worker said she was too short and couldn't ride it. Say what? She's been on it twice and loved it. Lexi was in tears. Nothing we could do. The supervisor came over and offered us premier seating at the Shamu show and some food to feed the fish but they crushed poor Lexi's feelings. She loved that ride. She learned to wear thicker soled shoes! 

We went back to the hotel and slept. Well kind of, for some reason the safe started  beeping about 3am and wouldn't stop beeping. Mike went to the office and they didn't know what to do. They offered to switch us rooms but that seemed like a pain in the middle of the night even if it was next door. So we tried to ignore it. It beeped about 7am and finally woke up the last sleeping children. We enjoyed breakfast and a quick swim and then checked out and headed to Sea World again. More pictures to come.
