Allergic

Not only is Lilly allergic to penicillin but I can now add peanuts and tree-nuts to the list and possibly eggs. I can give her eggs cooked into foods with caution but to avoid plain eggs and esp cookie dough shakes. Honestly it is better knowing the allergies than being afraid to feed her certain foods wondering if she is allergic to it. Gotta read labels these days! This girl has been to the doctor more times in her 13 month life than all of the other kids put together.

There is a 20% chance she'll grow out of the allergies. We'll know more next week when the blood work comes back.

This is Lilly's 12 month picture update. Can't believe how long her hair is getting, the mo hawk probably was too long for this picture but I wanted to do it anyway! Just love this little girl to pieces, even when she screams bloody murder in the middle of the night for no apparent reason! Geesh, last night was rough!

What a cute picture and I like the mohawk. Much better than trying to pull it in to piggy tails that it was too short for which is what I did to my poor girls, of course they were much older than that. They were still super bald at a year. She is growing up so fast and I am sorry about all the allergy issues.

Are you carrying a pediatric epi pen??? A kid in St. George just died due to peanut allergy, and one of the scariest patients I ever had was swelled up by the time she got to the ER and was admitted for a few days. Her grandma had peanut butter flavored baking chips (like chocolate chips) and had put TWO in her hand--the kid didn't even eat them! A few more minutes and her airway could have swollen shut. She was either 2 or 3 years old, visiting from out of state. So be careful! The other allergies are easier to manage, but peanuts are everywhere--even on the trays of airplanes. I watched a mom scrub the tray--her kiddo was with her, and had a severe peanut allergy--so she had to scrub anything that in-flight peanuts could have touched! She carried an epi pen as well as cleaning wipes. Do I sound like a paranoid nurse? I am about peanut allergies!

Peanut allergies are really crazy. We will all have to be super careful. I understand they get worse with each exposure, but hopefully her allergy is mild enough to just prove cautionary. Sorry babes, no Reeses for you. We'll just have to stay with Skittles. Glad you found out before it got severe. Dan figured out after getting sick every time he eats nuts that he needs to avoid them, too.

Absolutely LOVE the photo and the Mohawk is just crazy cute! Her hair is so thick! She is such a precious little doll. We all love her and hope this never gets severe!

So sorry to hear about the allergies! Brooklyn was one of the lucky 20% that outgrew her peanut allergy. Although she hates peanut butter and avoids it like the plague. She can smell it a mile away. Good luck. One thing I did besides having the epi pen with her at all times, was buying the single dose benadryl to keep with it as well.

OHmygoodness! I'm glad you found a reason for the strange reactions though. Praying she will grow out of it. Having food sensitivities and allergies is no fun. xoxoxo
