Misc Summer Stuff

More phone pictures!

This is the 24th of July. I put Lilly in a red/white/blue outfit but when she doesn't like something she changes it herself. So she is in orange for our patriotic holiday. She is very stubborn, if she doesn't like the outfit I've picked out she either refuses to put it on or changes it herself. What 2 year old does that? ALL my kids let me choose their clothes most days.
And a silly face just because!
We re-financed our home and signed papers at 6 o'clock to save a months worth of interest. Our loan was located in California, they didn't realize it was a State Holiday but someone was willing to work the loan and it was quick and painless. We jumped down to a 20 year loan and saved over 6 years of interest, we got ride of PMI (hallelujah) and I guess are staying put for a while! I can't imagine a life without a mortgage payment, hopefully it'll be less than 20 years!

We ate dinner with the Wakely's and then headed to a neighborhood firework show. We all pitched in $20 and brought a treat to share. The first hour was a filler show with fountains and tanks and flowers. The last 2 fire crackers were spectacular. I loved the machine gun one but they were also $100 a piece. Nothing like watching your money being spent literally in the sky!!

POAP offered a free REAL salt lake soccer game one Friday afternoon. It started at 5 and it was a hundred degree weather kind of day. I grabbed hats for everyone and was glad I did because the "cheap" seats were facing the sun and we were melting in it!!

We could bring in water bottles but not water. We literally dumped the water out and then walked into the stadium. That's random but oh well. The drinking fountain water line was miles long (seemed like it) . After the 1st round, we went to find cooler seats on the end zone. Lilly didn't get a nap that day and she was hot and the water we filled up in the bottles was gone and the water line was even longer. We decided water from the bathroom was just fine and then left and hiked back to the car stopping at Iceberg for dinner.

Was the game fun? Mike enjoyed it. I was sweating just sitting. They are doing 2 more and later in the day, it may be fun. I'll get Mike to take the kids and I'll stay home.

Our zoo pass expired in July so we went one last time to see the new part again. Here the kids are in front of the lions who were sleeping.

We always love the Elephants. They teach them things, it's fun to watch the little show as they teach them things. Animals are really smart.

And of course the carousel is always a favorite.

Coke was inside giving free Coke's to anyone who would wait in line for it. Have you heard the new slogan for Coke? Share a coke with ___  and the bottles have names on them. This booth let you type in your name and then a friends name to share it with. Jack typed in his name, Makinzee wasn't available. They said "while its a beautiful name it is not in our system try again" so he put in his BF's name, Lincoln. Lexi put Lilly's name in, Maddy put Dad's name. We came home with 6 cokes with our names (almost all of us) on it. I joked to Jack that everyone had one but me. It took him a minute to realize I was left out. LOL. Jack drank his and threw out the can. Duh, something to put on his shelf. Oh well, he did inform me it was just a sticker.

For a gift, we looked everywhere for certain names. I guess Coke only printed out the top 250 names. BUT some of those names, surprise me. Seriously, Amir and Claudia and Phil to name a phew? And yet no Makinzee? What is Coke thinking??

Awww, sorry no Makinzee. I agree. Amir????? Hot games in the sun are definitely not fun. You are troopers, all of you, to stick that one out as long as you did. And I miss the zoo! Haven't had one trip up there this year! Maybe we'll have to take a day in December and go while the kids are on break. It's a great time to go. Except some of the animals are hibernating.

We thought about getting Real tickets, but Kevin didn't want to go since it was intramurals and not a true game. I still think it would've been fun, although the summer heat has been taking a big toll on me this year!
I'm not sure we'll make it back to the zoo before our pass expires, it's nice to know we got our money's worth, but I still feel like we should've gone several more times.
Can't believe Makinzee isn't on a coke bottle, but I do think you're the only Makinzee I know :) Such a genius marketing idea!!

P.S. I'm jealous you got rid of your PMI. I cringe when I see my mortgage statement every month. We also looked into refinancing, but since our interest rate is already in the 3's, the math didn't make sense for us. How amazing it will be to be out of debt one day.

So jealous! We have been in our house 10 years and will never get rid of our PMI or even get to move because the value just keeps dropping. Yay for being able to drop that! I can't believe your kids are back in school already but it looks like it is giving you a chance to catch up on blogging. There was no time to blog during your super condensed summer. Oh...and Jack's head!!! Ouch!
