Work has been crazy, super busy and it was all I could do to sneak away when I did to come home for the ward camp out. We got a new software system, and all the old had to be moved to the new, in addition to learning it. I think I worked 4 days this week, when I finally left work, I texted Mike that I needed him to talk me into going home and packing to go camping. He replied back that he needed more talking into then I did and said let's just stay home. But after calling the kids (they opted to stay home from work today and be at home) they all were for it! So, I did the parent thing and packed even though I didn't want to. After all it was for only one night. We could manage that right? Haha, Mike's least favorite thing to do is setting up a camp for one night!
We headed out only to be in lots of traffic all the way to Mantua, Utah. We arrived set up tent, which was kind of hard because there were bugs and then we didn't want to be too close to babies or others in tents but we found a good spot in the big meadow. There were lots of trees that provided shade and good hiding spots for the kids who played in the woods, dozens of picnic tables, a volleyball net and flushing toilets and running water. Not a bad area after all. We started a fire at dark and pulled out smores and just chilled.
Most of the kids were too busy to sit and chill. Glad I had Maddy and Lilly who accompanied me in just chilling.
In the morning, the boys played kuub, these 3 were waiting for their turn to play. Wish we had remembered to bring our game, glad the Hendrickson's did.
Lexi always finds things she adopts and carries them around and usually puts in a safe place in the car to come home with. Good thing, this stick didn't make the come home list. She did play with it.
Lots of games at night and in the day. The ward provided lunch and breakfast and we just hung out in between.
These two are only 6 weeks apart. Henry can be quite entertaining, I blame him for finally lulling Lilly into the water.
Kids playing werewolves, they would put their heads down almost like heads up seven up and played this for hours!
Here's Lilly finally getting in the stream, see Henry in the background all wet up to his t-shirt. He looked like he was having so much fine, why wouldn't Lilly want in on the action. This was the extent of the water in camp, kind of random but nice that it wasn't too much.

After checkout at 1pm, we headed over to the reservoir to cool off and clean up! Oh Boy, was it hot. And oh boy, was the water cold! They did a little fishing with some friends, swam, people watched and then we headed home.
Love the mountains in the background and the lake in front. Very fun little town and a great spot for a ward party.
We all love receiving letters in the mail. Lilly got one this week addressed from Aunt Jill. Inside was a letter to Jack, some stickers, letter to Lilly and a pack of gum. Not sure where the thought of changing her name came from but one day Lilly decided her new name was watermelon. When I called her, she wouldn't answer. Lexi told me of the name change and sure enough when I called her watermelon she would listen and do as I asked. This even happened at Lagoon. My Aunt Linda, was talking with her and asked her what her name was (people always get Lexi and Lilly confused), she said "watermelon" Linda smiled and later told me the story. When getting off one of the rides at Lagoon, Linda tried calling her "Lilly, Lilly, Lilly over here" but she didn't respond, so she said "watermelon" and Lilly turned and headed her way. What a hoot! Well after receiving the package of gum, she looked at the picture and said yummy it's watermelon just like my name! It gave us all a good chuckle. She won't let this one down, sometimes she'll go by Lilly but lately it's been watermelon!
Another cute thing she says is Upsy-down in place of upside down. She also loves to see the temple as we drive by them and says "there's Roni" on the temple.
Freebies days for free stuff last week included slurpees on 7/11 day. We grabbed them on the way to Kamryn's birthday party so I didn't have a chance to take pictures with people in them!
The next day it was chick-afila day. If you dress up like a cow you can get a free entre. The things we do for free food! Here we are all dressed up as cows for free chicken. Love this restaurant! And esp my creative kids for coming up with their own costumes.
Cub Camp was this week also. Jack got to go Friday and Saturday and enjoy lots of different activities at Camp Tracy up Millcreek Canyon. This is the group that came from our ward.
Corbin, Ryan, Mason, Jack, Gavin. At the end of Friday, they got to go swimming and pass off aqua naughts.
They built bridges and made them out of toothpicks.
Made science experiments.
And had a good time with buddies.
Saturday, Mike went up with the boys. They got to canoe, if you look close they are all wet. I guess they got in a paddle splash war with another troop. These boys claim they won! haha
And after lunch, they did a HOT hike. It isn't very far up the canyon so the city heat was out. Mike said Jack was about 15 feet into the hike and said "my legs already hurt" Mike said, we hadn't even started the incline. So needless to say this was Jack's least favorite activity at the camp.
We have terribly missed Maddy this week. She was fortunate enough to go to Yellowstone with Grandma and Grandpa Loveridge along with Sean and Linzy's family. We were also invited just had too many things going on this week to be able to sneak away. Sean sent this to Mike and said that he had enjoyed having his daughter for the week. I sure hope this souvenir stayed at Yellowstone and isn't coming home with her! We've missed her terribly, she is pretty quiet, seems to always be reading these days (just finished all 7 Harry Potter books in 3 weeks!!) but still miss having her around the house.
Friday after work I took Lexi and Lilly to the splash pad by our house and saw that the park was setting up a movie screen. We came back at 9 to watch the movie in the park. It was The Good Dinosaur. We had treats and blankets and pillows and enjoyed a nice night out! But we all had to rise and be out of the house at 7am the next morning, so we didn't get much sleep. Jack and Mike to cub camp, and my friend Kami and I to go to Lake Blanche and hike with her Dad's youth in his ward.
We left about 7am and drove up Big Cottonwood canyon. There were 12 of us. Some of the group had a harder time hiking and were way back. Kami and I just kept moving, when we got to Lake Blanche we hiked 5 miles in about 2 hours and 10 minutes. We got to the top 20 minutes before the 2nd group and an hour before the last group! Needless to say we were ready to go back down by the time the last group showed up. BUT this was the view from up top. The water was down a bit, there was still snow in some peaks but it was so pretty. The overcast kept it cool. Perfect morning for a hike.
Just love this girl! I learn so much from her and am grateful for her example, she is a beautiful women in side and out, has a heart of gold, would do anything for anyone, has 2 beautiful children whom mine love, and can talk to each other and laugh for days and hours! So grateful for her in my life.
This was the view of the Great Salt Lake, kind of hard to tell with the cloud cover. We hiked back down with 2 others and made it down in just under 1.5 hours. We were off and home about 2 and had the best day! That night we celebrated and enjoyed Mexican dinner at Moralies in Murray. Great day! Great week.
What a week! Here's to another great week including Price reunion, swimming, dentist appointments and then school starts next Tuesday. Maddy and Lexi both say they are ready to go back to school, Jack doesn't really care.
