Otters

January 15-21 Recap
January 16: Martin Luther Kings Day No School
Spent the morning cleaning the upstairs. As most with the New Year, I've been trying to organize. I've made files for each of the kids school stuff that is accumulating. I finally got my food storage off the ground and am now going through kids clothes boxes. I am down to just 0-12 months boy clothes left. We spent the rest of the day at Jump n Bounce...our 2nd to last day on the month pass. It was busy, busy, busy. Lost Lexi. Panic attack. Found her and left, grateful I had her
(and of course the other 3 that I brought).

The rest of the week was typical.
Tuesday: Dance for Maddy, Jump n Bounce for Jack & Lexi, Dr for Mike: Ear Infection and bad cough
Wednesday: Mutual
Thursday: basketball
Friday: No school.
Still not sure what the occasion was. Maybe the end of term. The otters have arrived at the Aquarium so we went to have a peek. Well not everyone was off school. There were so many field trips it was crazy busy but we still enjoyed our selves. Here's some pics from the day.

And we found the OTTERS!
3 brothers.
Apparently they like to take a 2 hour nap after eating. We arrived just after they ate.

At least one was swimming and running and letting us enjoy him. Jack learned that they can swim and hold their breath for 8 minutes. This little guy was showing off for us that's for sure! He was so fun to watch.

And then more fish

They have a touch and feel sea ray exhibit. Lexi is my brave child and wanted to touch it.
And then it came a little too close and she jumped back.
Can't blame her, I even tried to be brave and at the last minute pulled away. They are safe, won't bite, but it's moving and...
And then 3 canoe'ers.
They gave us a free "otter" pop when we left.
Can't wait to go back and see them all in action. The penguins did give us a good show too. And the big turtle did also. Lovin' this indoor attraction so close to home.

We left the aquarium and went to lunch and then the grocery store.
We came home,
the sun was out,
the kids played outside
and removed their coats.
WHAT,
isn't it January?
The temp was in the 50's. Apparently it was a warm before the storm. Saturday we had rain all morning and then snow all afternoon. It was nice to not have anywhere to go or anything to do.We sat by the fire, played games and watched Dolphin Tale. Although, Mike had a chore to do. We have a darling toy box that the hinge is broke. I've learned toy boxes are "disfunctional" (my new fav word:) and wanted to get ride of it. Mike wanted to fix the hinges and then sell it. In so doing he almost went to the ER Saturday for stitches. Probably should have but didn't. Box is NOW in the garage, hinges still broken and I really don't care! Glad his hand is still in one piece. His fingernail is almost grown back from his last injury in October!  Sunday, Brent told Mike that he was accident prone too. I don't think Mike is accident prone, he's done a million things in between the two injuries...the negative or bad always plays higher than the positive stories. Thanks for all you do Mike!

Well most of that sounds fun. Our toy box has a broken hinge and now I am thinking I will just trash it and never mind trying to fix it.

Glad you found Lexi...I felt panicked just reading about it! Poor Mike's finger! And we still need to go see the otters and renew our membership at the Aquarium!! Sounds like you have been busy with fun and productivity!!

Oh NO!!!!!

Now I feel responisible for Mike's finger! :( Sorry about the accident.

Could you use the toy box for blanket storage? I am trying to find one for that reason. They do have good uses.. because they are storage.. just not so "functional" for toys! :)

I am proud of you.. and the changes you are making! Yay!!!

We have never been to the aquarium yet! Looks super fun! Too bad about Mike's finger! Ugh! Hate it when stuff like that happens! Glad it wasn't too serious! :)
