Since Mike wasn't working and we had a trip planned earlier that year, we snuck away for a long weekend in St George. Mike had an interview in the morning, which helped me to pack and pack and pack. Only going 4 hours away yet I packed the house! And lots of swim suits and sunscreen. The sun was shining when we arrived. The kids all have new flippers and were excited to give them a try.
And to our delight, our friends joined us later that night. We all rented a condo and it was roomy and cozy and a great time! And beautiful I might add, would like to have one of those of my own someday.
Kids love to ride with friends. These 3 are a great trio. Not all trio's work, but they make it!
This Trio does pretty good too. Except Ryan is a foot taller then the others. They will always be trying to catch up, but with two tall parents and a Dad at 6"7, I think they'll always be the short friend!
Love the red mountains down South!
Sunday afternoon after church (which was all travelers I might add) we took an afternoon hike in Snow Canyon. Boy did the heat, heat up this place. We did find a cave, that was cool and very welcoming to take a break from the heat. BUT the heat never stops these explorers.
Lilly was a little nervous and first and held tight to her Dad's hand. She did great! True hiker here.
Kids love to explore and climb high. Here they are climbing up to the pioneer names carved on the all in diesel grease many many years ago!
After hiking, we snuck down town to enjoy a cool off in the rivers aka splash pads.
We went to 2 reseviours while in St George. Gunlock, longest drive, no water fall, bugs, stickers but the lake all to our selves! And Sand Hallow. We all had a great time at both.
Kids played in the red sand!
Sat on the beach (with the bugs and sticker weeds).
We all huddled under our little umbrella.
And played int he water. Jake bought a paddle board, we borrowed a kayak from the condo and had an amazing time on the water.
Hehe, see Maddy peaking?
At the lake, we carted a picnic table over to our beach to use. It was nice to have somewhere to sit, there were ants on the ground which weren't very nice to sit on.
And then more swimming at the condo. Lots of others also had the same idea. 2 pools helped keep the crowds at bay.
Can you read Maddy's expressions? Another hike! It's too hot. Are we done yet? Can I have a drink?
And just like that it was time to go home. A great weekend. Best of times and it really was a great distraction from the job hunt for all of us! And a week later we found out he had a job offer!
