I’m the barber at our house. When I learned I was pregnant with a boy over 6 years ago I decided I better learn how to cut hair. Mike was my guinea pig and then when Jack needed his first hair cut just after his first birthday I cut his hair too.
Back in August, JCP offered free haircuts. I’ve had my eye on the new mo-hawk hairdo and convinced Jack that we should let a professional give him a mo-hawk. Of course he said yes!
Unfortunately that was 2 months ago and it was time for a trim (the hawk wasn’t staying up anymore). I wasn’t sure I could re-do the mo-hawk he had but I gave it my best shot.
The week previous after getting out of the bath, Jack asked me if I could put a curler in the back of his hair so he could have a curly tail like Mack Wakley. I explained that the Wakley’s were blest with curly hair and our family was cursed with straight hair and Jack's hair probably would never ever be curly. (A curse to some is a blessing to others right).
As I was finishing up Jack's hair cut, he asked me not to cut off his tail, he wanted it long. Then he said, "Mom, is it curly now?” Oh son, I wish it were that easy.
I love you so much Jack!

You do such a good job. I would have never guessed that you didn't go to a professional. I am starting to wonder what you can't do?
I wish I were brave enough to cut Alex and Seth's hair. It would save me a bundle. This cracks me up because Alyssa just cut bangs and was telling me she wished she had natural bangs. I tried to explain that no one naturally has bangs...they all have to be cut. I love that Jack thought that cutting a tail would make it curly. Hee,hee!
Oh, that's cute! Sure you don't want to curl it each morning? I have a really thin tiny curling iron that just might work!
Ha ha- borrow the curling iron!
I guess I should come get hair-cutting lessons, although I'm already dreading cutting off any of Owen's cute, curly locks.
